[3] This story revolves around a traditional family Vamanam Tharavadu in Kerala which is haunted by a Yakshi, a vampire, which sports multiple appearances and displays tremendous power compared to ordinary ghosts, terrorising the whole village When the story starts we are introduced to vamanam tharavadu,consist of Dhathri,her husband bhaskaran who is bedridden,her sons keshu and ramu,keshu's wife madhavi.Dhathri's brother achuthan,his wife janaki and daughter panchali who is deaf and dumb,stay near to them.Pregnant madhavi and her foetus ,keshu and ramu all killed by neeli under different circumstances.Next day the whole village wakes up to heard the tragedy caused by kaliyankattu Neeli.All of them decided to call a highly talented and powerful sorcerer Mepradan to destroy Neeli.Neeleswaran and his lover Manga from the village use to do theft using neeli's name and neeleswaran prays neeli as her god.

Mepradan manages to subdue and absorb the Yakshi in an idol with his black magic, but on his way to properly consecrate the same and conclude the ceremony, the Yakshi demonstrates her cunning by seducing and waylaying his proteges,thereby escaping the idol and showed them her five appearances including her real appearance,seeing that proteges starts running and subsequently killing Mepradan by burning him alive.

The death of such a highly powerful sorcerer as Mepradan shocks the whole countryside, and even Mepradan's guru, the aged and venerable Madavana Rakshasan Thirumeni recuses himself from the task.Madavana Rakshasan Thirumeni suggested achuthan to call Reverent Kadamattom, a Christian priest who was believed to have supernatural powers to gauge them out of the problems happening around their family.

Kathanar reached vamanam tharavadu where the members dhathri,achuthan,panchali,janaki,seetha and her husband balan all welcomed kathanar.Kathanar using his powers cured bhaskaran who can walk now and also cured panchali,who can hear and talk now,this make the family members very happy.Manga left neeleswaran for another guy,devasted neeleswaran apologised to kathanar for praying neeli,his real name was antony and he decided to continue living in his real identity and to stop all immoral things which he done till now.

Kathanar is forced to lock horns with him and defeat him for good in a fierce and prolonged battle, at the end of which Chadayan is left blind and his castle crumbling down on him.

The haughty Kulamana Potti refuses to help citing silly reasons intending to punish them for perceived disrespect, while Kadamattathu Kathanar offers to help.

Kathanar arives at the scene and discovers that the evil spirit is the ghost of one Marthandan, an illegitimate son of the patriarch who was murdered brutally at the orders of the Thampuratti.

The story continues from Kumkumathu Kovilakam as the secretary Sankara Kuruppu is in financial trouble to conduct his daughter Parvathy's marriage.

Meanwhile we are introduced to the courtesan Bhanu, the rich mistress of Ettukettu, who demands that anybody defeat her in a game of dice in order to sleep with her.

At the end of his wits, Sankara Kuruppu makes the mistake of playing dice with Bhanu in order to win enough money for his daughter's marriage.

Watching all this unfold helplessly in front of his eyes, Kulamana Potti is furious and mad at Kathanar for hurting his ego, and swears to destroy him.

After a series of magical cat-and-mouse games and a final face-off, Potti is humbled and he, along with Bhanu, make peace with Kathanar.

Horribly deformed with boiled oil and left to die, he is initiated into being an Odiyan by Karikalan, and pledges to wreak revenge on those who tortured him.

With the help of Kalidasan, another famed sorcerer and priest, Kathannar tries to find the source of the problems and discovers that the family's curse begins with their ancestor Lord Udaya Varma.

Jagathan Thambi and his family, which consists of his wife Satyabhama, sisters Unnimaya & Parvati and his grandmother, move to their ancestral home Chandanamangalathu Tharavadu which is famed for its dark past.

The spirit is of Gauri, a maidservant's daughter who was in love with the young male heir of the house's previous occupants decades ago.
