With the nationalization of the Geibi Railway on 1 July 1937, the station was renamed to its present name.
With the privatization of the Japanese National Railways (JNR) on 1 April 1987, the station came under the control of JR West.
The station was closed from 6 July 2018 to 4 April 2019 after damage to the line from heavy rains.
