Karlstad Cathedral

[1] The church is located in the middle of Karlstad on Lagberget on Tingvalla island.

A new church was erected in 1723–1730 at Lagberget on Tingvalla Island, under the direction of Superintendent Johannes Steuchius (1676–1742) who later became Archbishop.

[3][4] In 1790, architect Erik Palmstedt (1741-1803) designed a new choral interior with a new altar and pulpit.

After the fire, the tower got its current neoclassical look after drawings by architect Albert Törnqvist (1819-1898).

In 1956–1957, a new large sacristy was built on two floors to the east.
