Kensington is a suburb of Timaru, in the South Canterbury area and Canterbury region of New Zealand's South Island.

It is located south of the town centre.

Kensington covers 0.73 km2 (0.28 sq mi)[1] and had an estimated population of 1,640 as of June 2024,[2] with a population density of 2,247 people per km2.

The percentage of people born overseas was 11.3, compared with 27.1% nationally.

Although some people chose not to answer the census's question about religious affiliation, 53.3% had no religion, 33.8% were Christian, 1.2% were Hindu, 0.2% were Muslim, 0.6% were Buddhist and 2.0% had other religions.
