The building was built in 1970 and underwent a major renovation project in 2006–2007 which included seating and locker room upgrades in the main arena.

[citation needed] Another major renovation project began in 2023 which eliminated a second rink in the building, replacing it with a connected, but separate, facility focused on music education.

An additional club team that competes in the Division III level of the ACHA as a member of College Hockey East began play in 2019.

The north side bleachers are located behind the team benches and include a small balcony section and press area.

The new seating also includes an elevator for disabled access and allows fans to look right into the penalty boxes for both the home and visiting teams.
