As of the 2022 Bangladeshi census, Khagrachhari Sadar upazila had a population of 136,141.

The ethnic population was 80,636 (59.23%), of which Chakma were 36,937, Tripura 28,576 and Marma 14,792.

The union parishads are subdivided into 13 mauzas and 246 villages.
