He earned Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Gunda in 1976.

After the liberation war he revived his career through films such as Utshorgo and Ekhane Akash Neel.

Khan died of heart ailments on 7 December 2014 at Square hospital in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
