Kikuyō, Kumamoto

Kikuyō (菊陽町, Kikuyō-machi) is a town located in Kikuchi District, Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan.

Kumamoto Prefecture Kikuyō has a humid subtropical climate (Köppen Cfa) characterized by warm summers and cool winters with light to no snowfall.

Kikuyō has a mayor-council form of government with a directly elected mayor and a unicameral city council of 18 members.

In terms of national politics, the city is part of the Kumamoto 3rd district of the lower house of the Diet of Japan.

Kikuyō has a mixed economy based on agriculture, notably in the southern and eastern parts of the town around the Shirakawa River.
