She holds the record for most wins at the program and led the Red Storm to their first Sweet Sixteen appearance in the 2012 NCAA tournament.

Shepherd Director of Athletics Warde Manuel announced an extension of contract through the 2027–28 basketball season, with an automatic one-year extension added each June, for J. Ira and Nicki Harris Family Women's Basketball Head Coach Kim Barnes Arico.
