It is currently used mostly for football matches and serves as the home for Köpetdag Aşgabat, that currently plays in the Ýokary Liga.

In 2015 the stadium underwent radical reconstruction and reopened for the cup match played between Köpetdag and FC Merw.

Surrounding it are synthetic rubber running tracks, sectors for long and high jumps, and training areas.

The stadium's lighting meets FIFA standards, enabling television broadcasts.

The sports complex also includes outdoor courts for team ball games and a training field.
