[5] According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 35.4 square miles (92 km2), of which 29.5 square miles (76 km2) is land and 5.8 square miles (15 km2) (16.48%) is water.

At the 2000 census[2] there were 744 people, 294 households and 221 families residing in the township.

There were 537 housing units at an average density of 18.2/sq mi (7.0/km2).

There were 294 households, of which 31.3% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.0% were married couples living together, 5.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.8% were non-families.
