Lakshadweep Lok Sabha constituency

Until 1957, Lakshadweep formed part of a constituency in the Malabar District, but it was only in 1967 that its MP was directly elected, having previously been appointed by the President of India.

P. Pookunhi Koya of the JD (U) party (part of the BJP-led NDA) defeated the ten term incumbent MP, P. M. Sayeed by 71 votes.
