The institute started with 75 students in Civil, Mechanical, and Electrical undergraduate programs, and was affiliated to the Bombay University.
In addition to the students, the laboratories also cater to industrial testing in diverse fields.
[5] Keepsake Welding Research & Skill development Centre of Excellence has been established at L. D. College of Engineering.
[6] The college has dedicated a team for major sports like cricket, lawn and table tennis, badminton, kabbadi, football, volleyball etc.
[7][8] The institute maintains a training and placement cell to help students prepare for job searches.
[17] The team mainly comprises the students from Mechanical, Electronics and communication, Computer Science and Instrumentation and control fields.
[19][20][21] In Robocon India 2018, the team have reached the quarter-finals and won the Best idea award.
[15] The team also organize an annual techno-cultural fest Lakshya in the month of February.
