[2] He graduated from Lakeland High School and attended Florida Southern College.

[1] During World War II, he served with the 349th Infantry, 88th Division "Blue Devils".

[3] He was married to Katheryn "Kitty" Louise Roux (1923–2016)[4] and lived in Dunnellon.

[2] Together they had:[4] A practicing Methodist,[1] Goodyear taught Sunday School and Bible study.
