[4][5] The Leinster Minor Football Championship was first played in 1928, however progress stalled at the semi-final stage and the competition was never completed.
The first completed Leinster MFC was in 1929 and Longford won the inaugural title beating Dublin in the final in Navan on a scoreline of 3–4 to 1–4 on 10 November 1929.
Longford progressed to the All-Ireland final that year (only Leinster and Munster involved) but were beaten by Clare in the All-Ireland final on 1 March 1930.
