Leonel Cota Montaño

Leonel Efraín Cota Montaño (born 23 April 1958, in Santiago) is a Mexican politician.

Leonel Cota studied political science at the National Autonomous University of Mexico.

He began his political career as a member of the Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI), which he represented in the Chamber of Deputies from 1994 to 1996 and as municipal president of La Paz, from 1997 to 1999.

He would later shift to Nueva Alianza in a failed bid for the Municipal Presidency of Los Cabos.
