It was founded in 1934, and became a member of the World Organization of the Scout Movement in 1957 and is also a full member of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts.

Les Scouts Tunisiens is known for its citizenship training through community service.
Service activities include planting trees, construction of schools and hospitals, providing recreation for children in orphanages, literacy campaigns and disaster relief.
The Scout Motto is Kun Musta'idan or كن مستعدا, translating as Be Prepared in Arabic and Sois Prêt, translating as Be Prepared in French.
