The Horse Valley Bridge, Rocky Spring Presbyterian Church, and Skinner Tavern are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Horse Valley is located between the two ridges, drained northeastward by Conodoguinet Creek, which turns and forms the northern boundary of the township as the creek leaves the mountains and enters the Great Appalachian Valley.
The southeastern part of the township falls within the Letterkenny Army Depot.
The unincorporated communities of Upper Strasburg and Pleasant Hall are north of the depot.
16.9% of all households were made up of individuals, and 6.8% had someone living alone who was ixty-five years of age or older.
