Licensing Act 1988

The Licensing Act 1988 was an Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom applying to England and Wales, which among other things, extended permissible opening hours for public houses to 11 am to 11 pm.

Previously pubs were not generally allowed to open between 3:00 pm and 5:30 pm.
