Lins, São Paulo

The town was founded in the beginning of the 20th century, at first with the name of Santo Antônio do Campestre, and grew after the arrival of the Estrada de Ferro Noroeste do Brasil (The Northwest railroad of Brazil).

It was named after Manoel Joaquim de Albuquerque Lins, who was the president of the state of São Paulo from 1908 to 1912.

2000 census total population: 65.952 human development index (HDI-M): 0,724 (source: IPEADATA) In telecommunications, the city was served by Telecomunicações de São Paulo.

The company is currently an operator of cell phones, fixed lines, internet (fiber optics/4G) and television (satellite and cable).
