The club was affiliated with Home United[1] and had its name changed to Lion City Sailors FC in February 2020 when Home United was privatised by Forrest Li, who owns Sea Limited, a tech conglomerate, and changed to Lion City Sailors FC.
[1][2] The team's league debut as the LCS was delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic in Singapore which caused a suspension of the WPL from 2020 to 2021.
[4] On 24 June 2024, LCS was defeated by Geylang International FC 2–1, ending their unbeaten streak since the start of the 2022 season.
