Lipstick, Powder and Paint (song)

"Lipstick, Powder and Paint" is a song by American blues shouter Big Joe Turner, released in July 1956 as a double A-side single with "Rock a While".

[3] When reviewed in Billboard magazine, the single was described as a " two-faced powerhouse", as "both sides rock mightily, and feature the usual repeated refrain gimmick of which the shouter is so fond.

[4] Cash Box also described it as a "strong two-sider" and wrote that "Lipstick, Powder and Paint" is "a quick beat rocker intoned by that inimitable chanter.

It is an infectious bouncer with several catch phrases that fall in catchy manner from that rolling tongue of Turner.

[5] In 1985, Welsh singer Shakin' Stevens covered the song for his album of the same name.
