Manchester United Women Football Club is an English association football club based in Old Trafford, Greater Manchester.
Manchester United was formed in Newton Heath in 1878 as Newton Heath LYR F.C., and played their first competitive match in October 1886, when they entered the first round of the 1886–87 FA Cup.
[3] Previously, Manchester United were associated with a semi-professional women supporter's football club.
[4] A media spokesman for Manchester United also claimed the club wanted to focus on its women's academy instead of its senior team.
The most recent player to make their debut for the club is Welsh midfielder Mared Griffiths who debuted on 8 February 2025 in the 2024–25 Women's FA Cup match against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
