With the inception of the Bundesliga in 1963, the Bayernliga returned to a single-division format and, in 1978, the league changed its name to Amateur-Oberliga-Bayern.
[1] With the establishment of the Regionalliga Bayern in 2012, the league was split once more into a northern and a southern division.
