List of countries by infant and under-five mortality rates

The under-five mortality rate (U5MR) is the number of deaths of infants and children under five years old per 1000 live births.

The WHO recommendation is that all children who show signs of life should be recorded as live births.

World average of Under-five mortality rate is 36.6 per 1,000 live births, according to 2020 estimates.
