Notable owners: On September 6, 1694 reports the sale of Klinkenberg was sold to Jacob Casperson Hallenbeck; it became “the original seat of the family of Hallenbecks” for several generations.

During the Revolutionary War, Klinkenberg was inhabited by the Provoost family, who were “noted tories.” In Klinkenberg was referenced as “George Houghtaling's house ref: Pelletreau’s chapter “Coxsackie” in "Beers History of Greene County", p 4, 1884.
