Local elections in Tamil Nadu

Elections to Local Bodies in Tamil Nadu are conducted once in five years to elect the representatives to the Urban and Rural local bodies.

[1][2] These elections are conducted by Tamil Nadu State Election Commission[3] Urban local bodies include 21 Municipal corporations, 148 Municipalities and 561 Town panchayats.

[5][6] The first election to the local bodies in Tamil Nadu were held in October 1996.

Urban - Corporation Councilor[12] Counting of votes commenced on 02.01.2020 and continued to go on for the next day(03.01.2020).
