[1] He was the son of house painter Karel Lodewijk Bruckman (1868–1952) and Wilhelmina Frederika Hamel (1869–1930).
[3][4] Bruckman studied with his twin brother at the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague, where he was a student of Henk Meijer.
[5] In 1949, Bruckman and his life partner Evert Zeeven, who was also his manager, moved to the United States.
[1][3] Bruckman painted figuratively, forest views, and other still lifes with fruit, flowers, shells, eggs, feathers and towels.
His painting Composition With Peaches won the popular vote at the Boston Arts Festival in 1953 and he became second in 1957.
[9] Museum de Oude Wolden in Bellingwolde in the Netherlands has a permanent exhibition with his paintings from the municipal collection of Bellingwedde.
