Lohardaga

Lohardaga is a town and the district headquarters of Lohardaga district in the Indian state of Jharkhand, west of Ranchi, the state capital.

Earlier (early 1900s) Lohardaga was the commissionary headquarters for Chotanagpur.

Multiple organizations, especially Hindalco, operate bauxite mines near Lohardaga.

Bauxite extracted from the mines around Lohardaga are sent to alumina refineries across various states of India.

As of 2011[update] India census,[3] Lohardaga had a population of 57,411.
