Longbeach is a lowly populated locality in the Canterbury region of New Zealand's South Island.
[1] It is located in a rural area of the Canterbury Plains on the shore of the Pacific Ocean on the northern side of the Hinds River's mouth.
Nearby settlements include Waterton and Eiffelton to the north, and on the other side of the Hinds River, Lowcliffe to the west.
The small township of Hinds is to the northwest, while the nearest significantly sized town is Ashburton, further north.
[4] Several buildings on the Longbeach station are classified as Heritage New Zealand historic places: the two storied brick cookshop, waterwheel, homestead, stables, chapel and cob cottage.
