Lučine (pronounced [ˈluːtʃinɛ]; in older sources also Lučna,[2] German: Lutschna[2]) is a village in the hills south of Gorenja Vas in the Municipality of Gorenja Vas–Poljane in the Upper Carniola region of Slovenia.
The name Lučine, like similar toponyms (e.g., Luče, Leutschach < Lučane), is derived from the Slavic personal name *Ľubъkъ and likely refers to an early inhabitant of the place.
[2] The local church is dedicated to Saint Vitus (Slovene: sveti Vid) and stands in the eastern part of the settlement in the middle of a cemetery.
The original Late Gothic church was extended and a belfry was added in 1669.
The church was designed by Anton Jeblinger in 1897 and the stonework was executed by Peter Bevk from 1898 to 1899.
