Luc Rémont

Luc Rémont (born 7 September 1969) is a French business leader, former senior civil servant and former investment banker.

The French government announced his appointment as chairman and CEO of EDF on September 29, 2022, which was validated by Parliament on October 26, 2022, and formalized by the Council of Ministers on November 23, 2022.

[11] In September 2022, the French government is considering appointing him to replace Jean-Bernard Lévy at the head of EDF, with a possible separation of the functions of chairman and chief executive officer.

[17] He is described as being close to Alexis Kohler, the Élysée general secretary, but also to Joël Barre, the system architect of the future EPR2 reactors to be built by EDF.

[5] He takes over the reins of the state-owned company at a time when EDF is going through a particularly difficult period, due in particular to the operational difficulties encountered with its nuclear fleet.

In his roadmap, the government has asked him to focus on three key areas: restoring EDF's production to "best international comparables", controlling details and budgets for ongoing nuclear projects, and turning around the group's financial trajectory "over the long term".
