Luca Andrea Cardelli FRS is an Italian computer scientist who is a research professor at the University of Oxford, UK.
[6][2][7][8] Cardelli is well known for his research in type theory and operational semantics.
[4] Before joining the University of Oxford in 2014, and Microsoft Research in Cambridge,[7] UK in 1997, he worked for Bell Labs and Digital Equipment Corporation,[7] and contributed to Unix software including vismon.
[7] In 2007, Cardelli was awarded the Senior AITO Dahl–Nygaard Prize named for Ole-Johan Dahl and Kristen Nygaard.
[17] Cardelli created and published the Dijkstra font, a computer typeface mimicking Edsger W. Dijkstra's handwriting, in the late 1980s while working at DEC.[18][19]
