Luke Alexander Matheson (born 3 October 2002) is an English professional footballer who plays as a defender for EFL League One club Bolton Wanderers.

He earned a move to Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers, and has since spent time on loan back with Rochdale and then further spells at Ipswich Town, Hamilton Academical and Scunthorpe United.

[7] On 25 September 2019, at the age of just 16, he scored the equaliser in a 1–1 draw against Manchester United in the EFL Cup third round at Old Trafford, which Dale eventually lost 5–3 on penalties.

[11] On 31 January 2020, Matheson signed for Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers, before re-joining Rochdale on loan for the remainder of the season.

[14] On 1 February 2021, Matheson joined EFL League One side Ipswich Town on loan until the end of the season.

[21] On 1 August 2023, he completed a move to EFL League One side Bolton Wanderers on a one-year contract following a successful trial spell.
