The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg is a member of the United Nations.
A delegation from Luxembourg headed by Joseph Bech, the Minister of Foreign Affairs,[1] attended the San Francisco Conference and signed the UN Charter on 26 June 1945, becoming the United Nations' smallest founding member state.
In 1976, 1980, 1985, 1991, 1997, 2005, and 2015 Luxembourg served as the Chair of the European Council of Ministers, thus representing the EEC and the EU at the UN.
From 2007 to 2009, the country was a member of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
In March 2014 Lucas served as President of the United Nations Security Council.
