[1] In 1962, at the initiative of a small group of parents, fifteen children started their first school year in a room located in the garden of the Consulate of France.

The completely devastated buildings were demolished and the reconstruction began very quickly.

In 2022 the school celebrated its 60th anniversary, as part of the anniversary the school changed its name to Lycée français international de Simone Veil as a tribute to the french politician Simone Veil.

The school has received a few negative comments over cases of bullying, racism and lack of German-speaking courses on Google Maps.
