Halchuk began playing at the local youth level and ultimately signed with Volyn Lutsk in the Ukrainian First League in 2001.

[11] In one notable match on 16 August 2008, against rivals Vorskla Poltava, UA-Football named him as one of the two best central defenders of the fifth round in the Ukrainian Premier League.
