Manchester Collective is a chamber-music ensemble consisting of a rotating group of musicians.
Its repertoire generally consists of 20th and 21st century works with a focus on commissioning living composers.
[5] They have commissioned works by contemporary composers such as Kelly Moran, Ben Nobuto, Zubin Kanga,[6] Oliver Leith, Mahan Esfahani,[7] Héloïse Werner,[8] Abel Selacoe,[9] Vijay Iyer,[10][11] Alice Zawadzki,[12] Moor Mother, Edmund Finnis,[13] and Hannah Peel.
[14] In addition to commissioning new works, the Manchester Collective also performs 20th-century classical repertoire by composers such as works by Arvo Pärt,[15] Morton Feldman,[13] Michael Gordon,[16] Steve Reich,[17] George Crumb,[18] and Pyotr Tchaikovsky.
[19] In 2021, the Manchester Collective made their Royal Albert Hall debut as part of the BBC Proms Festival alongside Mahan Esfahani.
