Manish Malhotra (born 5 December 1966) is an Indian fashion designer, couturier, costume stylist, entrepreneur, filmmaker and revivalist based in Mumbai, India.
At the age of 19, while studying Arts at Elphinstone College in Mumbai, he did a few modeling gigs in ad campaigns for brands like Fu's, Weekender, Frooti, and Goldspot.
In 1997, Malhotra worked on Yash Raj Chopra's Dil To Pagal Hai (1997) where he designed stylish athleisure wear, sheer traditional outfits, and minimal styling to Hindi Cinema.
The film saw the rise of harem pants paired with long t-shirts, phulkari scarves, corset tops (with the popular red skirt), and hoop earrings with short kurtas.
After claiming his position as a costume director, stylist, and Hindi film industry fashion designer, he launched his couture label Manish Malhotra in 2005.
In 2006, Manish Malhotra teamed up with Saif Belhasa Group of Companies to open his first flagship store in Dubai that catered to Arab and Global customers.

Over the years, the label's aesthetic has aimed to bring together traditional Indian craftsmanship with contemporary silhouettes like gowns with intricate gold embroidery, cigarette pants paired with long jackets for women, voluminous lehengas worn with cropped blouses, or the use of non-traditional colors like royal blue, soft pink, maroon, etc., in bridal ensembles.
In 2021, he launched a collection of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) which had the sketches and GIFs of five couture pieces worn by famous artists like Lisa Ray, Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Alia Bhatt.
He also broadened his retail presence by opening his first international flagship store at the prestigious Fashion Avenue in the Dubai Mall, making him the first Indian designer to achieve this milestone.
His work was prominently displayed in an exhibition at the Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre, and he headlined the opening show for JIO World Plaza.
Other significant ventures included the launch of Stage 5 Productions for films and an exclusive collaboration with Starbucks offering a limited-edition lifestyle drinkware range collection.
His creations have graced notable celebrities such as Kim and Khloe Kardashian, John Cena, Nicky Hilton, Law Roach, Luis Fonsi, and Lauren Swartz.
His designs also shone at the grand wedding of 153 major Padma Shri artists, highlighting his exceptional ability to merge high fashion with monumental artistry.
He also launched a new store at JIO World Plaza in Mumbai,India and also showcased his collection at Harrods’ Private Shopping Penthouse, becoming the first Indian designer invited to this esteemed venue.
