Marguerite Bay

Marguerite Bay or Margaret Bay is an extensive bay on the west side of the Antarctic Peninsula, which is bounded on the north by Adelaide Island and on the south by Wordie Ice Shelf, George VI Sound and Alexander Island.

[1] Toadstool Rocks are a group of insular, ice-covered rocks that rise to about 250 cm above sea level in the southwest part of Marguerite Bay, east-southeast of Terminal Island.

The name is after HMS Endurance which at this position in February 1972 struck a rock in a depth of 2 metres (7 ft).

The area was surveyed by boats from the Endurance in 1973 when similar depths were found up to 1 mile (1.6 km) south-southwest of the rock.
