[3] The family were well to do and her father was a partner in the engineering firm Fielding and Platt.
She attended Cheltenham Ladies College and then obtained a place as an actor in the Liverpool Playhouse as part of the Liverpool Repertory Company.

[2] She was friends with the young Laurence Olivier and John Gielgud who attended her memorial service.
[2][3] She died of cancer on 28 December 1956 at St Martin in the Fields.
