He played college football for the Virginia Cavaliers, earning consensus All-American honors in 1993.
As a senior offensive lineman for the Cavaliers in 1993, he was recognized for his achievements and under consensus first-team All-American.
Because of a series of injuries and related surgeries, Dixon was not selected in the 1994 NFL draft.
He played as a member of the Frankfurt Galaxy of NFL Europe in the spring of 1995, and subsequently earned starting positions with the CFL's Baltimore Stallions in 1995 and the Montreal Alouettes in 1996 and 1997.
Dixon resigned from Galax again in 2020 and took the head coaching job at Pulaski County High School (Virginia) in Dublin[6]
