Marotiri, New Zealand

Marotiri is a rural community in the Taupō District and Waikato region of New Zealand's North Island.

[3] The community has an annual family agricultural day each November.

[4] Marotiri settlement is in an SA1 statistical area which covers 26.08 km2 (10.07 sq mi).

The 2018 area also includes Whakamaru and Mokai, and covers 744.19 km2 (287.33 sq mi)[1] and had an estimated population of 2,680 as of June 2024,[5] with a population density of 3.8 people per km2.

The percentage of people born overseas was 13.3, compared with 27.1% nationally.

Although some people chose not to answer the census's question about religious affiliation, 59.2% had no religion, 26.6% were Christian, 5.8% had Māori religious beliefs, 0.5% were Hindu, 1.0% were Muslim, 0.4% were Buddhist and 1.3% had other religions.
