Marta Pérez (athlete)

Marta Pérez Miguel (born 19 April 1993) is a Spanish middle-distance runner who holds the national record in the 1500 meters.

Running in heat 3, she stayed behind the Ethiopian leaders, but ran within reach of the top six.

At the final lap, Perez was in 10th place, but kept increasing speed on the backstretch, finishing in eighth with a new national record: 3:57.75.

She did not advance, though her countrywoman Águeda Marqués did after finishing sixth in the slower semi-final heat 1.

[3] She also competed for Spain in the women's 1500 metres at the 2017 World Championships in Athletics, and she won bronze in the same event at the 2018 Mediterranean Games.
