Marunouchi Building

A nine-storey building with the same name was built on the site in 1923.

The building survived both the Great Kantō Earthquake and the bombings of Tokyo during the Second World War.

With a total floor area of over 60,000 square metres, it was the largest office building in Asia when it was completed.

[1] The old building was closed in 1997 and replaced by the current 180-metre structure in 2002.
