The group was founded in 1988 by musicians Robert "3D" Del Naja, Adrian "Tricky" Thaws, Grantley "Daddy G" Marshall, and Andrew "Mushroom" Vowles in Bristol, England.
Massive Attack's debut album, Blue Lines, was released in 1991 and was a pioneering force in the forming of the fusion genre dubbed trip hop.
[1] Blue Lines peaked at number 13 on the UK Albums Chart and was certified Double Platinum in the United Kingdom.
In 2006, Massive Attack released Collected, a compilation of the group's singles and music videos.
