[2] In 2012, he established his own political consultancy, MLD Advisory Ltd.[2] He also spent two years as the Director of Communications for the International Rescue Committee under former Foreign Secretary David Miliband.

[5] Controversially Doyle was appointed for 3 months as a media adviser to Secretary-General Patricia Scotland at the Commonwealth Secretariat in April 2016.
