Matthew James Wood (born 30 September 1980) is a retired English cricketer, who played for Somerset and Nottinghamshire as a right-handed batsman and occasional right-arm off-break bowler.
He made his first-class debut for Somerset against Yorkshire in 2001 and scored 71 in a total of 553 for five wickets.
After Graeme Smith left in 2005, he was appointed as Somerset's official vice captain.
In the late part of the 2007 English cricket season, Wood signed for Nottinghamshire on a three-year deal, to replace departing opener Jason Gallian.
[3] After retiring from first-class cricket at the end of the 2010 season, Wood replaced Eddie Burke as Player Pathway Development Officer at Nottinghamshire.
