It was designed by Wilson Brothers & Company of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and built in 1888 by the Central Railroad of New Jersey.
It is a 1+1⁄2-story, five-bay, red brick building in the Queen Anne style.
It is owned by the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway and served as a visitor center.
The station was added to the National Register of Historic Places on January 1, 1976.
Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway operates passenger excursions out of the station.
