Max Gustav Richard Scherwinsky (Latvian: Maksis Gustavs Rihards Šervinskis; 1 November 1859 – 12 July 1909) was a German-born architect working mainly in Riga, the present-day capital of Latvia.
Max Scherwinsky was born in Tilsit (since 1946 Sovetsk) in East Prussia (today Kaliningrad Oblast in Russia).
His family was originally Polish aristocrats who had emigrated to the Kingdom of Prussia following the November Uprising.
Max Scherwinsky received his basic education in Tilsit and then went on to study construction in Buxtehude.
In 1879 he enrolled in the Württemberg Royal Polytechnic School in Stuttgart to study architecture.
